The Latest edition of Maritime by Holland Magazine is out now!
Marine propulsion is defined as ‘the mechanism or system used to generate thrust to move a ship or boat across water’, a very wide-ranging subject, that can be sliced into two vast parts, power generation and propulsion devices themselves. Many methods are being researched and innovated to make vessels more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly and the Netherlands plays a major role in those innovations.
In this issue’s special we therefore look at several Dutch innovative initiatives in the field of marine propulsion and Michel Voorwinde, director of VIV, wrote the guest column.
Next to that, we explore the possibilities for the maritime industry to do business in Russia, we dive into the world of serious gaming, Mikael Hansen of COSCO Heavy Transport features in our The vision of… series and Danser Group shows in Global Holland that the Dutch inland shipping is going global, too.
The vessels described in this issue are the platform supply vessel World Diamond, built by Damen, general cargo vessel MV Alice, built by Ferus Smit, and motoryacht Sofia, built by Moonen.
